Atelier desk stands for the essence of a desk – by Kai Stania, made of solid naturally treated wood. A table-top having two height-adjustable podests is a characteristic reference to the classical architect’s desk from which it originated. The design of the desk is immediately legible – its static and adjustable height can be understood at a glance.

The desk represents the term atelier, or studio, perfectly. The adjustable level of the table from 68 cm to 81 cm enables ergonomic work regardless of a person’s height. The simple-to-operate height adjustment mechanism is a technical innovation: it is made entirely of solid wood making it currently unique.

The clear architectural construction of the desk combined with the sensual charm of natural wood creates an appealing tension between tradition and modernity.

Atelier desk sweetens your home office time with its lovely design and the beauty of living solid wood. There’s no need to hide it away in a little study – its outstanding design also makes it the stunning centrepiece of any living room.

Its practical details make your work as comfortable as possible: height-adjustable, the Atelier desk adjusts to your size. The inevitable cables conveniently disappear in the cable outlet of the table top and integrated cable trunking.

Atelier desk, which is made entirely out of solid wood, the great skill of our master cabinetmakers is on display, especially in the latching mechanics for height adjustment. It brings the stable solid wood desk to the right height, step by step.

About the designer

Without doubt, Viennese designer Kai Stania´s strength is a perfect symbiosis between aesthetics and functionality. The perfection of his art is evidenced by a number of international and national awards which he won at a relatively early stage: the Vienna Börsepreis für Design, the IF Product Design Award, the Red Dot Award which he won twice, or a prize in "Die Auswahl", a selection of Austrias ten best pieces of furniture.

Kai Stania was born in Salzburg in 1965, graduated with honours in Architecture from Viennas Technical University in 1995, and studied Product Design at the Ron Arad master class of Viennas University of Applied Arts. Stania has played a significant part in designing and developing most serial products for the Austrian company Bene, and has designed numerous products for Wittmann, Jean-Louis Scherrer, Cerutti, Remus and Lanvin.

Apart from working as architect and designer, Stania teaches at the Institute of Building Technology and Design of Vienna´s Technical University.
