Finn Juhl 53 Lounge Chair | Solid Wood Scandinavian Easy Chair

Imagine unparalleled comfort in a chair that's as much a work of art as it is a place to relax. The Finn Juhl 53 Lounge Chair redefines what an "easy chair" can be.

The Design Story

Originally designed for master joiner Niels Vodder and first shown at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition, the 53 Chair showcases Finn Juhl's signature approach: separating the structural frame from the upholstered body. The rear legs extend and curve organically into armrests, giving the seat and back the appearance of floating — a hallmark of true Scandinavian sculptural design.

Handcrafted in Bangalore

Every 53 Chair is handcrafted in Bangalore by GULMOHAR WOOD WORKS, pairing a solid wood frame with an upholstered corpus for genuine, lasting comfort — not the compressed foam of typical off-the-shelf recliners.

Why You'll Love It

• Solid wood frame built for enduring quality
• Upholstered corpus for a soft, ergonomic seat
• Sculptural, floating silhouette — iconic Finn Juhl design language
• Dimensions: W 71 cm x D 77.5 cm x H 73 cm, seat height 37.5 cm
• Handcrafted to order in Bangalore

A Sculptural Addition to Bangalore Interiors

The 53 Chair's compact footprint makes it a natural fit for Bangalore apartments and studies where every square foot counts, while its sculptural form gives even a small corner real visual presence. As a Bangalore-made piece, it ships quickly across the city and is easy to service or reupholster locally down the line.
