Low wooden bed and open bedside shelving

A low wooden bed and tall open shelving share the same bedroom in this project from our archive. One photograph shows the room arrangement; the closer view shows how books, plants and smaller objects occupy the shelves beside the bed.

Details visible in this project

The contrast between the low bed and vertical storage keeps the two functions distinct. Open shelves allow frequently used objects to remain visible, while their position beside the head of the bed makes reach and clearance important parts of the brief.
