Finn Juhl — Designer Profile

Finn Juhl was a Danish architect and self-taught furniture designer whose sculptural approach helped define Danish Modern. His work draws on modern art and the human body, often separating upholstered seats and backs from their wooden frames to create visual lightness.
He worked closely with cabinetmaker Niels Vodder and designed the interior of the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the United Nations in New York in 1951–1952. The 45 Chair, Chieftain Chair and Pelican Chair illustrate different aspects of his approach.
Gulmohar Wood Works makes custom solid wood furniture in Bangalore, using solid teak for the wooden components specified in each listing. Original design credits are provided for reference; Gulmohar is not affiliated with or endorsed by House of Finn Juhl.
